Most people think that Friday the Thirteenth is a day of bad luck, but I can tell you today was not bad luck for me. I ventured out from Wellfleet at 5:36 am and headed to the fishing ledge off the Bath House.
Here is Wellfleet harbor.
It was a fast run out with seas calm to 2ft. I was alone this morning. Line in at 6:20 am. Line tight at 6:30 am. I was catching fish from 20″ to 36″. I pulled about 20 fish and my arms started getting tired. A 9″ green Salty plug and a 7″ green Gibbs needlefish were the most productive. I lost my yellow needlefish to a large fish, but it was a few feet down and pulling hard so I did not get a good look, just a huge flash of silver, then pop, he kept the lure and disappeared into the deep.
Here are some shots of the best fish when I got back to dock. The needlefish in the picture is not the same color as the one that caught the fish, but it is the pole with 12lb test.
Here I am with the fish back at the dock.
