It was a beautiful morning. Calm winds, cool land temperatures and warm water temperatures all combined to create some fantastic morning scenery. There was a still mist rising from the Magothy River. The water being warmer than the air created an enveloping blanket that covered the first 5 feet above the water surface. Broken by the noise of our engine, the stillness we encountered while dropping the boat was now gone. A bird, sitting on the first bouy, fled our boat’s advance. This is the scene we witnessed.

We went to Podickery point, tried fishing the humps, and then on to the bay bridge. We caught about 10 fish, stripers all sublegal, and blue fish that needed to be thrown back.  We used a range of top waters, and jigs, both shiny and with plastic swim baits. The fish were around the rock piles on the south spam on the east side. We attempted to go deep figuring that the bigger rockfish would be below the small bass and small blues. No such luck, just small ones. Nevertheless, for a three hour session of casting, we had fun.
